Traveling Tips:
- currency conversion of American Dollars to to Brazilian Real may be done after getting to Brazil; Vava will have enough Brazilian Real beforehand
- consider $100-$200 extra spending money (i.e., beyond regular meals and lodging): think about whatever is desired for snacks, souveneirs, clothes, jerseys,.....; keep less than $100 at any one time, get additional funds at an ATM
- weather and clothing: Curitiba is like spring in Northern California without the rain, Rio is like Miami Beach in winter
- phones: cell phones different than United States (therefore players should consider NOT bringing your cell phone); need to determine 'renting' local cell phone for group, Internet phone (e.g., Skype) may be good alternative
- electricity adapters/hair dryers
- medical facilities: club provides medical facilities, trainer, etc
- telephone: '55' is Brazil country code, '41' is area code for Curitiba and '21' is area code for Rio de Janeiro; e.g., from a United States residential phone dial 011-55-41- 3017-1050 to reach the Hotel Slaviero Slim (although I would suggest to use an International calling card which offer rates to Brazil ~12 cents/min)
- do not use laptop computer, DVD or any expensive electronic equip in airport to avoid attracting attention
